Liverpool Suffer Again due to Defense, but Attacking looks great

Liverpool FC suffered yet another painful night at the hands of their defense. With the reds going behind after just 5 minutes due to an Emre Can defensive error. This put yet more question marks over Liverpool FC’s ability to confidently defend on the back foot. A question mark that has been hovering over the reds defense for a number of years.

Liverpool FC missed out on signing the 25 yeard Virgil Van Dijk in the Summer transfer window, however there appears to be more holes in the Liverpool FC defense than previously thoughts.

Player ratings from last nights performance are shown below:

Karius- 6

Gomez- 4

Matip- 4

Lovren- 4

Wijnaldum- 6

Can- 6

Henderson- 6

Salah- 7

Mane- 7

Firminho- 7

With the reds comfortable in charge at Anfield, on a cold night on Merseside they essentially threw away 2 critical points, as the reds face 7 games in 22 days.

Gomez received a second yellow with 1 minute to go in added extra time, which added to the cold dreary night at Anfield.

After the weekends drumming by Manchester City FC it doesn’t do much to improve the reds fans, who pay on average £60 for champions league matches. Defensive errors aside the reds looked very promising going forward, however the conversion rate does not look good for the reds and they need to find their feet much quicker.

With 22 shots there were only 2 goals, comparing this to Sevilla FC stats, they had 4 shots on target and 2 of them were goals.

Leaking at the back is simply not good enough for Liverpool FC, and a lot of question marks over Klopps ability to shift his tactics based on his leaky defense will slowly start to appear if things do not improve.

The January window will prove crucial for Liverpool FC if they are to build on their ability to go foward and also stop the leaky ship at the back.
